Having a big goal is inspiring — and overwhelming. Creating change takes focused effort, but where do you even start?

The best way to tackle a big goal is to break it down into manageable pieces. That’s why we’ve made it even easier to add tasks while using ContactDrive. Now you can set up automated task templates, create subtasks, and even modify your view to look at subtasks or single tasks.

Let’s dig into all of the new task-oriented features:

Task Templates

What’s a “task template” you ask? Since many of us do the same thing over and over again in our work, a task template is an automated list of subtasks that are created following a master task creation. For example, you could create a task template for following up with someone after a lunch or coffee appointment. You create a template for “meeting follow up” that prompts ContactDrive to automatically create subtasks such as:

  1. Send thank you note/text/email for the meeting
  2. Three days later send follow up materials
  3. One week later send proposal
  4. Two weeks later send follow up email
  5. Six months later check in

This is just one example, but if you think about it, there are undoubtedly pieces of your business/job/life that follow a process – and that process is the perfect candidate for a task template.

With our recent Activity updates, you can quickly use task templates as a follow-up to new activity when you see someone at a conference and want to remember to contact them the following week.

There are infinite possibilities! The best part is that you get to create your template with the time frames and due dates that work best for you.

Subtasks

Ready for some real relationship management superpowers? Any task in ContactDrive can now be broken down into infinite levels of subtasks. To do this, click on any single task on the Tasks page, then click on “add subtask.” You can create as many subtasks as you need. Then break down a subtask into subtasks. However you need to break down a contact-related task – whether it be a grant proposal or just checking in after someone gets back from vacation – ContactDrive now gives you the power to get things done.

These new features make it even easier to break down large tasks into smaller, more manageable bites.

You can also assign subtasks to anyone in your organization. Now one person can be in charge of a large task, but everyone can pitch in and help accomplish subtasks moving the ball forward even faster.

All of these new features beg the question, “What are you driven to do today?”
